    GIS Analyst

    Location: Austin, Texas

    We are looking for a talented GIS Analyst to add to our GIS squad on our Transportation Team. This position can be filled in either our Austin, Tulsa, or North Little Rock office. Our GIS squad is involved in projects across Garver’s 17-state footprint.


    Assignments will include map production, creating mapping applications, and spatial analysis, as well as project data management and coordination. We provide GIS and mapping services for a wide variety of projects such as environmental assessments, government grants, large transportation and water infrastructure projects, and wildlife and habitat monitoring.

    • Proficient in use of ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, etc).
    • Proficient ability to create maps, geo-databases, and other GIS deliverables on short notice.
    • Three (3) years or more of practical GIS experience or five (5) years or more experience without a bachelor’s degree.
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong aptitude for using MS Office Suite, in particular MS Excel
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or closely related field.
    • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123, and other ArcGIS Online applications is a plus.
    • GISP, AICP, PE or other professional certification a plus
    • Experience converting MicroStation and CAD data to GIS data is a plus
    • Proficiency processing LIDAR data for 3D application is a plus


    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Creating maps and performing a wide range of geospatial analysis in support of environmental documents and environmental field surveys mainly for transportation-related projects as well as other GIS related tasks.
    • Adhering to established cartographic standards and Quality Assurance / Quality Control processes.
    • Supporting geospatial field data collection efforts. Typical collected features include wetlands, waterways and rare, threatened, or endangered species occurrences or habitats.
