    Are you a recent graduate with a GIS focus or looking to map out a new career? The City of Pearland might be the right direction for you!

    We are looking to hire a GIS Technician who can develop and maintain the current thematic layers of the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) database. The successful candidate will prepare GIS hard copy maps and/or digital format exhibits for internal staff, public request, council meetings, and public hearings. As well as assist in data entry and data checking.

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Create maps and customized geographic information systems (GIS) applications and manipulate data to serve a variety of purposes. Be able to read and interpret maps, manipulate and understand digital land data, and manage data entered into a GIS database.
    • Utilize ESRI ArcGIS Desktop suite.
    • Use ArcGIS editing tools to create new and maintain current feature datasets.
    • Operate ArcGIS Toolboxes for projecting, coordinate transformations and conversion tools.
    • Develop ESRI Geocoding tools.
    • Preserve geodatabase topology rules.
    • Assists GIS Specialist with daily responsibilities.
    • Participates in technical support for various GIS end-user applications.
    • Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
