    Grayson Central Appraisal District – Sherman, TX


    Salary range: $35,000 - $60,000 annually + benefits


    Research and determine ownership of property using a variety of instruments.

    Create, amend, and maintain the District’s geospatial data, primarily using ESRI desktop products in a multi-user Arc GIS Server database. Learn, understand and follow Mapping Department workflow. Actively participate in review/advance of departmental procedures.

    GIS Analyst Requirements:

    Associates degree or GIS Certificate. Expertise in the use of ArcGIS application software, specifically parcel editing with one year of experience. Ability to work with geographic information system technology and its inter-relationship to property tax appraisal. Must have 1 to 2 years of experience in reading deed metes & bound descriptions, surveys & plats. Data processing parcel splits and plats/subdivisions relating to the deeds, surveys & plat. Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum qualifications may be an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements as well as surveying and or title research experience.


    • Maintains Appraisal. District GIS data, maps, using ESRI GIS tools
    • Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves GIS application problems
    • Performs varied data gathering & entry to create, maintain, displays and updates the Geographic Information Systems databases.
    • Experience in reading deed metes & bounds descriptions, surveys & plats. Also required, is processing parcel splits and creating platted subdivisions.
    • The ability to work in a team environment; contribute as a team member and treat co-workers and customers with respect.
    • A self-starter with the demonstrated ability to take initiative
    • Ability to multi-task in a high-activity/energy professional environment that includes multiple and concurrent projects and project deadlines, and occasional interruptions and walk-in appointments.
    • Ability to produce desired work outcomes, including quality, quantity, and timeliness.

    Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of lightweight (25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require visual and sound perception, discrimination, and oral communications ability.
