More Than GIS

Presentation Outline:

A former intern of ours once told me that they were considering leaving the GIS profession. Astonished, I ask why? I was told that where else are you asked to be a Geographer, cartographer, DBA, network admin, programmer and get paid less than all those positions. It got me thinking – what is GIS after all? Let’s spend an hour talking over what is GIS now and what it should be. How can we harness the passion and purpose that we live as GIS’ers and turn that into respect and appreciation with our peers.
