GIS Usage within the Sciences
Presentation Summary: In this presentation we will talk about how a NOAA, NASA and DOE are using GIS to provide robust geospatial information and products to the general public. These products can be used for weather / climate forecasting, ocean information (salinity / temperature), imagery and other statistical analysis. These Federal organizations are a small subset of the potential data sources provided for GIS scientific data to the general public.
About The Speaker:
George Thompson joined Esri's Professional Services Division in 2018 but has worked at Esri since 2013. He currently focuses on supporting the Advantage Program as an advisor for the Natural Resources and Federal Sciences teams. His responsibilities include consulting and project management of activities from program clients. He has a background in GIS with specific expertise in Enterprise Geodatabases and technical troubleshooting. As an Advisor, George is responsible for implementing the ArcGIS platform, both large and small deployments, for customers to help establish initial operating capabilities within their organization and then guiding them to a fully integrated enterprise system. As an advisor assesses user needs, develops conceptual designs, and coordinates with other Esri project managers and technical staff to accomplish the client’s goals. Other duties include managing subcontractor activities and deliverables, maintaining client relations, and meeting schedules for project deliverables. George has been a GISP since 2013 and hold multiple Esri Certifications.
