What to Expect When You're Expecting [a GIS]: A User's Manual for Building a GIS, GIS Management, and the Many Adventures of Working in Local Government

Presentation Outline:

While there is a dearth of resources on "breaking into the GIS industry" and "skilling up" from Technician to Analyst and/or Analyst to Developer; on the surface, there is little to prepare an individual for the leap into the world of GIS Management and running your own shop. My aim is to pull back the curtain and demystify the expectations of those interested in moving into a program management position and show the depth of possibilities of working for local government. This webinar tackles a variety of topics, projects, responsibilities, and tribulations that I've encountered in my first 18 months as a working GIS Manager:

Building the Infrastructure for an Enterprise GIS
   - Setting Goals and Vision or "Re-branding"
   - Setting up ArcGIS Enterprise
   - Portal to AGO Collaboration
Project Review
   - Ingesting Data from Multiple Outside Entities
   - Mapbooks & other Paper Products
   - Deep Learning, LiDAR, Space-Time Cubes
Administrative Duties
   - Esri Bug Reports
   - Budgeting
   - Enterprise License Agreements
   - 5 Year Estimates
