This class is designed for people who are familiar with SQL and would like to learn how to use it to more effectively leverage their spatial data. This class will focus on advanced SQL operations within an ESRI geodatabase environment consisting of feature classes, related tables, and attachment tables and include SQL code examples that could be reused in your environment. The following topics will be covered:
1. Using database triggers 2. Creating spatial Views 3. Geoprocessing with SQL 4. Querying and manipulating the shape field
Class materials and a workbook will be provided for each student.

John May
John has been using ESRI products and doing GIS since 1989. During that time he has used GIS for many diverse applications from site selection and analysis for banks and retail businesses to land and endangered species management for the USFS and DOE. During the last decade the range of his projects included work for the Department of Homeland Security, the Tarrant Regional Water District, several major Oil and Gas companies, and the Florida Department of Transportation. Johns' specialties are using native RDMS capabilities in concert with SQL Server Reporting Services to extend the value and utility of web enabled GIS platforms.
